DURHAM, N.C. – Jacob Amaya hit a two-run home run, but the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp couldn’t survive a five-run Bulls fourth inning for Durham’s 6-2 victory at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. The game was scoreless when Niko Hulsizer singled and Kameron Misner doubled off Jacksonville (23-32) starter Devin Smeltzer (1-3).

The game was scoreless when Niko Hulsizer singled and Kameron Misner doubled off Jacksonville (23-32) starter Devin Smeltzer (1-3). Two batters later, Vidal Brujan collected an RBI ground out for the game’s first run for Durham (33-23).

The Bulls broke things open in the fourth. With one out, Ruben Cardenas doubled, Ben Gamel singled and Nick Dini walked to load the bases. Hulsizer followed by crushing a grand slam. Misner then doubled again and scored two batters later on a Brujan double to make it 6-0.

The Jumbo Shrimp’s only offense came in the sixth. Jordan Groshans singled with one out. Amaya then cracked a two-run shot to set the final margin at 6-2.

Jacksonville sends LHP Trevor Rogers (0-0, 0.00 ERA) to the mound in a rehab start against Bulls LHP Jacob Lopez (1-0, 2.16 ERA) in Sunday’s 5:05 p.m. series finale. Coverage begins at 4:50 p.m. on ESPN 690 AM, www.ESPN690.com and the MiLB First Pitch app.
