It looks like the website has Oklahoma City assigned to the Astros and Round Rock assigned to the Rangers on the team affiliation page. If I'm not mistaken, it should be the other way around. -- "J Victory"
You're mistaken. The Rangers and Astros essentially swapped Triple-A affiliations this month when Nolan Ryan's purchase of the Rangers was finalized, and the team mixed up its farm system. The RedHawks announced the details of their switch to Houston this week.
Trying to locate the team that Alex Joseph Thieroff is with now. [He] was with a Minors team supported by the Diamondbacks and then the Mariners, but now I have lost track. Please help me find this young man. -- "Musicman"
You can search for any Minor League player using the player search bar at the top of MiLB.com. Thieroff was released by Arizona after the 2009 season and did not play in the Minors in 2010.
Where can you go to apply for employment opportunities with any of the teams? Especially in Florida? -- Mike & Carol
The 17th annual Minor League Baseball Job Fair will be held from Dec. 5-8 at the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort in Orlando, Fla., so that would probably be a great place to start. For more information on the PBEO Job Fair, please visit pbeo.com. You can also contact Minor League teams in Florida directly -- most teams have contact info on their respective websites. Good luck!
How come I cannot find out playoffs results on the Tennessee Smokies? I look up my grandson Craig Muschko and only find out results to the last league game? -- Fred M.
I am looking for a hobby to keep me busy. I was wondering if you have any type of free memorabilia, autographed items, old things that might be laying around the office. -- Wayne R.
We have some TVs, NYC take-out menus and media guides around the MiLB.com office, but that's about it. Individual teams would probably have more souvenir-type items -- you may want to reach out to clubs directly. There's also quite a selection of souvenirs and merchandise on the MiLB.com Shop as well as autographed and game-used equipment in MiLB Auctions.
I am an Alabama alumnus and I was just wondering about the status of Kent Matthes and Josh Rutledge in the Rockies organization? --Andrew B.
Rutledge "was injured a few weeks into the season and though he was listed as day-to-day, he never saw any more playing time after early August," according to Class A Short Season Tri-City. Matthes, according to Class A Asheville, went to the disabled list at the beginning of June and left Asheville. "He was lost for the rest of the season. It was a serious knee issue." It's unclear if surgery was required.
I was curious to know what happened to the segment about Minor League Players making their Major League debuts called Movin' On Up? -- Scott H.
It was a segment we started in 2009, but it didn't continue this season when the writer left MLB.com. We may try to bring back something similar in the future.
